THE European Union has pledged more support to Zimbabwe, particularly in the area of health to boost the fight against the deadly covid-19 pandemic.
The Head of Delegation of the European Union to Zimbabwe Timo Olkkonen this Thursday paid a courtesy call on Vice President and Minister of Health and Child Care General Retired Dr Constantino Chiwenga who was in the company of Finance and Economic Development Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube.
A number of issues were discussed, with the EU promising more support to Zimbabwe in fighting the covid-19 pandemic.
Vice President Chiwenga welcomed the support the EU has given the country in different areas of cooperation and more recently the fight against Covid-19.
Increasing domestic support for health as demanded by the Abuja declaration also came under the spotlight.
The European Union has in the recent past contributed over 160 million United States dollars to Zimbabwe in areas of health and agriculture, among others.
